I kicked my brother David out of my wedding after he brought his kids, despite our decision to keep it child-free. I had clearly communicated this rule when sending out invites, especially to him, as he always includes his kids in family events.
On the wedding day, after confirming he wouldn’t bring them, I was furious to see him arrive with his children. I confronted him at the entrance and insisted he leave. David argued, saying it was unreasonable, but I stood firm. Our argument escalated publicly, with David making hurtful remarks about my wife, Laura.
Now, my family is angry with me for excluding them, and my father believes I’ve permanently damaged my relationship with David. I made this decision partly to protect Laura, who is dealing with the trauma of losing her parents and recently learned she can’t have children. I didn’t want her to feel upset seeing kids at the wedding, especially since she initially didn’t even want a large ceremony.
