Grimes, known for his role as Kayce Dutton on the hit show “Yellowstone” made a major move when he released his debut album. The album marked a significant step in his music career, showcasing his talent as a singer-songwriter.

Grimes surprised fans when he took the stage on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” to perform one of the tracks from his debut album. The performance immediately captured attention, with the singer showing off his raw, country-infused sound to a national audience.

While some fans were thrilled by Luke Grimes’ unexpected musical debut, others offered mixed reactions, with some even advising him to focus only on acting.

One fan didn’t hold back, saying“Love his acting. Singing not so much!!!!” While another bluntly pointed out, “Bro went from bad actor to bad singer.” A user with similar sentiments told Grimes, “Stick to acting.”

“That’s not good for anyone’s ears ,” a viewer concurred hilariously. Another person was direct with their comment, penning“Oh wow that is horrible singing.” One fan frankly stated“You can’t sing,” while another was more apologetic, remarking“Sorry but really bad song and voice.”

An individual simply declared“It’s a no from me. He’s a good actor & very good looking but it’s no good.” Another person felt singing wasn’t meant for Grimes, writing, “I think he needs to stick with acting.”

Despite the criticism, there were a few positive comments. One fan declared“Omg love this guy(Casey) from Yellowstone! Great voice❤️,” while another was more enthusiastic, saying“I can’t believe how talented this guy is!! Love him in Yellowstone and love his music too .” Another viewer remained positive, stating“Loved this performance    .”

Despite some fans suggesting Grimes should stick to acting, the actor-turned-crooner is committed to his music career. His “Playin’ on the Tracks” tour kicks off on November 9 in Philadelphia, with stops in major cities like Los Angeles and New York, concluding on December 14 in Denver.

Grimes has also shed light on his music. He explained that, much like his acting, his music allows him to step outside of himself. He views his singing and album as a chance to adopt a new persona, using different names, words, and even outfits to fully escape who he truly is. Grimes’ goal is to convince others he is someone entirely different.

The singer noted that it was especially important for him to establish his identity in his debut album. He added, “Is really important to, especially starting off, to establish who I am and where this music is coming from and that I’m actually trying to be honest here and I’m trying to do this the right way.”

Grimes shared that authenticity is central to his approach, noting that country music resonates most when it’s deeply honest. This was a priority for him as he crafted his debut album.

Although Grimes has just released his first album this year, music has long been integral to his life. He grew up surrounded by worship music in church, with country radio later introducing him to secular sounds. He notes a connection between the two, citing Hank Williams, who wrote “I Saw the Light,” a song that resonates as both gospel and a country classic.

As long as a song is authentic, whether gospel or classic, Grimes counts it among his favorites—a path he now follows with dedication in his own music.
