Emma the pig arrived at Apricot Lane Farm weak and pregnant, with vets predicting she’d have no more than six piglets.
But she gave birth to seventeen, though only thirteen survived. After a long, exhausting labor, Emma’s condition worsened, and Chester, the farm owner, had to take the piglets away to give them a chance.
Miraculously, when he brought the piglets back, Emma’s health improved instantly. Chester believed her maternal instincts were what saved her. “Her calling to be a mom saved her,” he said, proving that sometimes the thing that seems to be ending our lives can be the very thing that saves us.
