A Texas woman, Kim Fleming Cernigliaro, recently shared her experience to highlight a new burglary method. While she was alone at home, she heard knocking that turned into loud banging and wisely chose not to answer. When she eventually opened the door, she discovered a rubber band on the handle. Unsure of its meaning, she called the police, who explained that this trick allows burglars to keep the latch open, making it easier for them to enter.
Kim is now working to raise awareness about this tactic and urging others to be careful when responding to the door.
